History
Founded in 1948, R.D. Abbott Company has enjoyed
a long and distinguished history, in part due to the vision
and abilities of its officers. The first link in the chain was
forged by Robert David Abbott. He was succeeded by Carl Hoglund,
John Arensmeyer, Bob & Elouise Baatz, Jerry Wicker and
currently Keith Thomas. Each remains distinguished in their
service to the local rubber industry and noted for their
personal contributions. R.D. Abbott is a proud supporter of The
Los Angeles Rubber Group, Inc. (aka TLARGI) and the Rubber
Division of the American Chemical Society. Tom Martin, our
Operations Manager, was the 2004 TLARGI Chairman and Keith
Thomas is presently serving TLARGI as Chairman and the Rubber Division as Chairman of
the Best Paper Committee.
R.D. Abbott Company is first and foremost
a service organization, focused on providing value-added solutions
to your technical problems. Many people think of us as the
resident bonding experts, due to our long association with
Lord Corporation and their Chemlok® adhesives. We hope
this never changes. After 50-years with Lord, partnering with
them just after the commercialization of the first modern
rubber-to-metal adhesive, we remain focused on this business.
However, we have expanded beyond our roots to offer a wide
array of products and services for the rubber industry.
Today, R.D. Abbott offers synthetic polymers,
rubber chemicals, high-consistency and liquid silicone
elastomers, organic and inorganic dispersions, a variety
of fillers, mold releases, millable polyurethane, process
promoters, lab & production equipment, plasticizers, bonding agents,
as well as many other technologies. And R.D. Abbott is proud
to work with and have the support of industry leaders such
as Lanxess, Dow Corning, Rhein Chemie, TSE Industries,
Cancarb, Hallstar, Alpha Technologies and, of course, Lord.
Since our founding in 1948, the Company
has grown and expanded, but we have never lost our Customer
Focus.
